Armenian National Congress loses its authority in the eyes of the people

    ARMINFO
    Saturday, February 16, 13:00

Fatherland and Honor Party has split from the Armenian National
Congress (ANC). The leader of the party Garnik Margaryan told
Azatutyun that the ANC has lost its authority in the eyes of the
people and is no longer pursuing the goals it was created for a few
    years ago.

"For almost half a year I tried to meet with the ANC leader Levon
Ter-Petrosyan to discuss the problems our bloc was facing, but he
never appeared during that period," Margaryan said.

He explained that the well-known steps by a number of parties have put
an end to the effort to unite the opposition. "So, we have decided to
break away from the bloc," Margaryan said, adding that they will
    continue cooperating with healthy forces.

On Feb 7 Ter-Petrosyan told Chorord Ishkhanutyun newspaper that it was
time for the parties comprising the ANC bloc to merge into one party.
On the next day ANC Coordinator Levon Zurabyan said that 28 people had
requested the Justice Ministry to register an Armenian National
Congress party. He explained that their decision to form a party was
aimed at consolidating the ANC and in no way meant an end to the bloc.

The ANC was established in 2008 and comprised 18 parties and political
    organizations.
