    Syrian-Armenians vote for peaceful and safe Armenia

    YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 18, ARMENPRESS. The Syrian-Armenians having Armenian
    citizenship and registered in Armenia also cast their vote today. Some
    of them have already fulfilled their civic duty. Syrian-Armenian
    doctor Marine Usoub cast her vote early in the morning and she was in
    a very good mood. She stated: "I voted for free, independent, and safe
    Armenia."

    Syrian-Armenian Movses Baghdasaryan mentioned that he voted for
    peaceful Armenia. Movses Baghdasaryan stated: "I am hopeful that
    everything will be all right after the elections."

    The Head of Stuff of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of
    Armenia Firdusi Zakaryan stated that 6000 Syrian-Armenians have
    settled in Armenia and 3000 of them have Armenian citizenship.
    Zakaryan stated: "About 500 of 3000 returned back to Syria, the exact
    number of voters from those 2000-2500 Syrian-Armenians will be
    clarified tomorrow."

    This is already the sixth time the Armenian citizens participate in
    presidential elections. 1988 polling stations of 41 electoral
    districts are open by 08:00. The total number of the voters included
    in the voters' register of the Republic of Armenia is 2.505.980. There
    are seven contenders running for president in the Republic of Armenia.
    The names of the presidential candidates are introduced in the
    alphabetical order in the ballots. They are as follows: Hrant
    Bagratyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Raffi Hovhannisian, Andrias Ghukasyan,
    Arman Melikyan, Serzh Sargsyan, Vardan Sedrakyan. The votes will be
    over at 20:00. The results of the presidential elections will be
    summed up on February 25, 2013.
