YEREVAN. - Thursday's meeting between Armenia's President Serzh
Sargsyan and opposition Heritage Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian-who
became the runner-up to the winner, Sargsyan, in Monday's presidential
election-did not yield the desired result for several officials at
the US Embassy in Armenia, Zhoghovurd daily reports.
"The well-informed sources of Zhoghovurd say Sargsyan sharply turned
down the idea of appointing a representative of the opposition to the
PM's post. Instead, he proposed Raffi to support the program to be
introduced by his government and to take part in the ruling coalition.
Hovannisian will respond [to Sargsyan] today [Friday]," Zhoghovurd
writes.
