Students launched another protest campaign against the presidential
election result in Yerevan, Wednesday.
To recall, by the final data of the Central Electoral Commission of
Armenia Raffi Hovannisian received 36.75% of votes and lost the Feb
18 presidential election to the incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan,
who received 58.64% of votes.
Like the previous two actions, this one also started at the Yerevan
State University central building, wherefrom the protesting students
moved to the buildings of the Medical and Agrarian Universities. By
a peculiar tradition, the protesters called on other students to join
them, while others demanded them not to hold them from lessons. Some
universities did not open the gates and doors to the protesters. The
key slogans of the protesting students are as follows: "We are the
owners of this country" and "Free, Independent Student!"
Earlier on Tuesday, the 'student revolution' was held in front of
the Pedagogical University, the State Medical College, the Sports
Institute, Academy of Art, V. Bryusov Linguistic University, and the
Institute of Theater and Cinema.
