Preparations for withdrawal of Russian equipment from Gabala radar are
underway in Azerbaijan.
The statement came from Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
`As is known, the Azerbaijani side received a note on suspension of
Gabala radar operation by Russia from 10 December 2012 since the
agreement between the government of Azerbaijan and the government of
Russia on the status, principles and terms of operation of Gabara
radar station expired on 9 December. In this view, the operation of
the station was suspended', the minister said.
Mammadyarov also noted that a commission has been created for taking
measures for the shutdown of the station at the order of the Cabinet
of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
`The commission, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov,
will hold essential measures on inventory of movable and immovable
property of the station, withdrawal of station personnel, their family
members and private property', Mammadyarov said.
