Andrias Gukasyan, a political analyst and chairman of the Radio Ay,
sent a letter to all presidential candidates to form a common civil
front against Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
Gukasyan says that they should all quit the presidential campaign
on January 15. He believes that a civil political movement against
Sargsyan should be under the leadership of Paruyr Ayrikyan, head
of the National Identity Association, Raffi Ovannisyan, head of the
Heritage Party, and Grant Bagratyan, head of the Freedom Party.
Besides the three names mentioned by the Gukasyan, the presidential
candidates are leader of the Republican Party and President of Armenia
Serzh Sargsyan, former Foreign Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Arman
Melikyan, unemployed researcher of epos Vardan Sedrakyan, head of
the National Consent Party Aram Arutyunyan and Gukasyan himself.
Registration of candidates will end on January 14. Official agitation
will start on January 21 and the elections will be held on February 18.
