BRITISH TRADE MISSION TO ARMENIA
British Embassy Armenia, U.K Government has issued the following news release:
Supporting UK-Armenia business links
In November 2012 the first multi-sector British Trade Mission visited
Armenia to explore trade and business opportunities. The visit was
organized by British Expertise and the British Embassy and was
supported by the FCO Commercial Diplomacy Fund.
The Trade Mission included 9 British companies from a wide range of
business areas, such as engineering, construction, infrastructure
development, IT and telecommunications, education, environment,
jewellery, science and PR and communications. The Mission met
stakeholders from the Armenian Government, international donor
community, business and civil society representatives.
The Trade Mission met the Minister of Economy, Tigran Davtyan, who
stressed the willingness of the Armenian Government and local
businesses to strengthen and develop business links between Armenian
and the United Kingdom. In addition, the Minister briefed the Trade
Mission on the business environment in Armenia and possible
opportunities. Apart from meeting Armenian colleagues, the Trade
Mission also met with the British business community in Armenia and
members of the Armenian-British Business Chamber (ABBC) hosted a
dinner to mark the visit of the Trade Mission.
During a press conference with Nigel Peters, Deputy Chief Executive of
British Expertise, he noted that members of Trade Mission are very
pleased to be in Armenia and keen to establish new connections with
Armenian businesses.
Ambassador Kathy Leach assured that the British Embassy will continue
to promote the GREAT reputation of British businesses and support the
development of British and Armenian business links.
