G. AIVAZIAN: WE TO PROPOSE NA RECOGNIZE GENOCIDE OF AZERI ARMENIANS
Tuesday,
January 15
"The only secure place for the Armenians is Armenia, their homeland.
The chief lesson of the Armenian massacres in Baku is that Nagorno
Karabakh can never be part of Azerbaijan," Chairman of the Assembly
of Azerbaijani Armenians Grigory Aivazian stated at a meeting with
reporters today, when discussing the Armenian massacres committed in
Baku in January 1990.
In his words, Azerbaijanis are capable of forming a crowd of 400
people and attacking unarmed persons, as well as killing elderly ones.
"More than 20 years ago Azerbaijan attempted to put the conflict in
a light favorable to itself and to prevent the dissemination of the
truth about the Baku massacres," he said.
Aivazian stressed that it is necessary to work actively in cooperation
with the mass media, international organizations and the interested
parties, presenting the truth about the Baku massacres.
"We will make a proposal that the National Assembly of Armenia adopt a
draft law condemning the genocide of Azerbaijani Armenians,' Aivazian
said, underlining the necessity of doing work within Armenia as well
so that the Armenian public will know what happened to Azerbaijani
Armenians.
