On Wednesday evening the House of Parliament of the Great Britain
approved decision to grant the Scottish Parliament right of a
referendum concerning the independence of that region from the rest
of the country. Last week the document received a unanimous consent
in the House of Commons. So, the discussion of the issue in the United
Kingdom is over.
It should be noted, that approaches to this highly important event for
the Scottish people will be summed up in a draft law, which will be
offered by the First Minister of Scottish Government Alex Salmond. The
government plans to hold a referendum on independence in fall 2014.
According to the British Cabinet of ministers, approved draft by both
chambers will allow to pass a 'legal, fair and decisive' referendum.
The principles of those procedures are outlined in the Edinburgh
Agreement, which has been ratified by the First Minister of Scotland
Alex Salmond and the Prime Minister of Great Britain David Cameron
last year.
The transfer of the right to referendum to the Scottish Parliament
means the end of the discussion on the criteria of will. 'It will
also allow us to start the "Big Discussion" on the issue whether
Scotland can be separated from the Great Britain or not' said the
British Minister Michael Moore.
He also noted that the decision on the fate of Scotland in the United
Kingdom will become the most important decision in life that they as
Scottish people make.
ITAR-TASS reported that the order approved by Parliament was passed
to /dear Majesty / Secret Council, for the final approval. It should
be noted that this is an actual formal Council of British Queen and
includes the senior political figures of the country.
