TOP COP: ARMENIA READY TO HOLD 'BRILLIANT' ELECTIONS

    Vote 2013 | 17.01.13 | 11:04

Armenia will pass the upcoming election test with brilliance, said
Chief of the Armenian Police Vladimir Gasparyan speaking at the
opening of a three-day workshop for prosecutors and defense attorneys
    in Yerevan on Wednesday.

The seminar held within the framework of preparations for next month's
presidential ballot has been organized by the Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) with the participation of
the United States Embassy and financial support from the European
    Union.

At the event, Gasparyan, in particular said that each of about 2,000
precincts in Armenia will have a responsible person from the police.

"We have been practicing this method during the parliamentary election
and during elections to local government bodies. It has fully
justified itself," stressed the chief of the national police force,
adding that while presidential elections have peculiarities of their
own, the Armenian police were ready for them.

Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan, who was also attending the event,
also declared readiness to investigate all reported violations in the
    electoral process.

"No complaint will remain unexamined," Hovsepyan added, stressing the
role of the media in the process.
