Turkish citizen to be prosecuted for crossing Armenian-Turkish border

YEREVAN. - The resident of Turkey's Van city, who crossed the
Armenia's border near the Turkish Helmcan village, will be prosecuted,
the press service of Armenian National Security Service informed
Armenian News-NEWS.am.
A criminal case was instigated under Article 329: Crossing of guarded
state borders of Armenia without the required documents, or without
proper authorization. The article is punished by a fine in the amount
of up to one hundred to two hundred times minimum salary or
imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years.
A preliminary investigation is being conducted.
Earlier it was reported that a resident of Turkey's Van city crossed
the Armenian border near the Turkish Helmcan village, which is located
in the immediate vicinity of Bagaran village of Armenia's Armavir
Region. The Bagaran residents warmly received the 35-year-old Turk and
they even offered him tea, Artur Sahakyan, 53, who hosted the Turk,
told Armenian News-NEWS.am. Artur Sahakyan also noted that the man was
not satisfied with the authorities of his country and wanted to leave
it.
