Trio from Armenia debuts in town
The Khachaturian Trio will perform Khachaturian¡¯s suite from ballet
¡°Spartak¡± and ¡°Gayane,¡± Babadjanian¡¯s ¡°Piano Trio in F Sharp Minor,¡±
Khachaturian¡¯s suite from ¡°Masquerade¡± and Tchaikovsky¡¯s ¡°Piano Trio
in A Minor, Op. 50.¡±
The Khachaturian Trio was founded as ¡°Arsika¡± in 1999. In 2008, it
renamed itself after the revered Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian.
The members of the trio are all established and highly regarded
chamber musicians. They get involved in pedagogic activities such as
giving master classes at music schools in various regions of Armenia.
Critics have highly praised the Khachaturian Trio¡¯s virtuoso
performances, subtle style, warm sound, and virtuosity.
The Khachaturian Trio has toured extensively throughout the United
States, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Australia, Russia and
Armenia. It has participated in a number of prestigious festivals,
such as the Festival de las Artes (Costa Rica), Festival International
Cervantino (Mexico).
The trio works in close collaboration with contemporary composers. It
has premiered a number of new works which were commissioned by them.
Its repertoire covers a wide range of genres.
