Georgian-Armenians connect Armenia's future development and attention
towards Javakhk with Serzh Sargsyan, Tatchat Vardapetyan, the president
of the Georgian-Armenian Unity NGO, told a news conference on Jan. 21.
He made the statement on behalf of the NGO.
While Vardapetyan reminded that Georgian-Armenians do not have the
right to vote and cannot back the incumbent with their participation
in February's vote, he added that there are many Georgian-Armenians
who have RA citizenship and can go to the polls on the Election Day
(February 18).
Speaking about the problems of Georgian-Armenians, Mr Vardapetyan said,
"We should try to curb migration and open more workplaces as Javakhk
is one of the largest Armenian communities and is closely linked to
the homeland."
Regarding Armenian-Georgian relations, he said 'the age-old fraternity
is binding.'
"I am thankful to the Georgian Prime Minister [Bidzina Ivanishvili]
who began implementing his campaign pledges."
Javakhk, an Armenian enclave, is the most underdeveloped and
impoverished region in Georgia, with the highest rate of unemployment
and the lowest rate of state investment.
