An exhibition of artworks by Iranian Armenians;
Iran's Armenian association has organized an exhibition to showcase
the artistic works by prominent Iranian Armenians. Artworks in
the fields of photography, painting, music, graphics, traditional
clothing, cinema, theater, sculpture, literature and poetry form
different sections of the exhibition. Meanwhile, this exhibition has
provided an opportunity for Armenians to introduce their artists to
non-Armenians, who have played an influential role in Iranian art. The
trace of Armenian art is evident in most of art forms in the country.
For example Iran's first silent feature film called "Abi and Rabi"
was directed by an Armenian called "Ovanes Ohanians" in 1929. Moreover
in photography, painting and especially in music Iranians will never
forget the masterpieces created by their Armenian fellow countrymen.
Presently there are over 130,000 Armenians in Iran. Christianity,
Judaism and Zoroastrianism are the main officially recognized minority
religions in Iran, which are protected under the constitution and
have representatives at the Iranian Parliament.
