JEAN-CLAUDE MIGNON ORGANIZED MEETING OF HEADS OF ARMENIAN AND AZERBAIJANI DELEGATIONS IN PACE

STRASBOURG, JANAURY 23, ARMENPRESS. Within the framework of the
winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe
the Chairman of PACE Jean-Claude Mignon organized a meeting of the
heads of Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations in PACE. As reports
"Armenpress" the Head of the Delegation of the National Assembly of
the Republic of Armenia Davit Harutyunyan partook in the trilateral
meeting. Notwithstanding no announcement has been made regarding the
results of the abovementioned meeting.
Such meetings organized on the initiative of the PACE Chairman
acquired a continuous character. There has been an agreement not to
publicize any information regarding the meetings. In a conversation
with "Armenpress" the PACE Chairman Jean-Claude Mignon noted that he
is not inclined to restore the sub-commission on Nagorno Karabakh
issue, which was organizing trilateral meetings with the heads of
Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations and the PACE Chairman. Among other
things Jean-Claude Mignon underscored: "I don't want to restore that
sub-commission, because the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are doing a
very significant work and I trust them." In addition he noted that
presently the trilateral meetings have a non-official and secret
character and they do not voice the issues, which are being under
discussion during the aforesaid meetings.
Earlier, the PACE Chairman stated that such meetings regularly take
place in Strasbourg or Paris, and that the latest trilateral meeting
took place in Turin.
