The population of Azerbaijan's sole Russian village is facing
increasing pressures by the local authorities, the Russian Pravda
reported.
The residents of Ivanovka (Ismaili region) were earlier reported to
have staged a massive unrest, protesting against corruption, land
appropriation and other pressures.
Ismail Shabanov, an activist dealing with ethnic minorities'
protection, said the village's population should not rely on the
government. "These processes causing the ethnic minorities to
leave their native lands stem from the Azerbaijani president's
administration," he was quoted as saying.
