`If the representative of judicial system passes the red line, the
Constitutional Court has the right to immediately impose appropriate
sanctions against him',-so answered the Vice President of Andorra
Constitutional Court Laurence Burgorgue-Larsen to the question of
Aravot.am as to where is the red line in their country between the
government and the judicial system. She informed that the judiciary in
Andorra is independent, and detailed,- `It means that the government
and the authorities are not trying to intrude into the judicial
system, and the government accepts the decisions that are made both by
ordinary judges, and by Constitutional Court.' We inquired how they
reached this situation. L. Larsene replied,- `Our Constitution is new,
twenty years old. On the other hand, it is important that the will
displayed by the players of the power comply with Constitutional and
the European standards.' In regard to violation of the `red line' by
the Government, our interlocutor cited an example: `Once the
government tried to use its power and put pressure on the judicial
system. Hence, the Constitutional Court qualified this practice as
unacceptable, and applied appropriate sanctions against the
Government.'
