Liverpool told fee for Shakhtar midfielder Mkhitaryan

Liverpool have been told the amount they must pay to Shakhtar Donetsk
for midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, ESPN has reported, with the Premier
League club quoted in the region of £25m for the Armenia
international.
Shakhtar's chief executive, Sergei Palkin, revealed that Borussia
Dortmund are thus far the only club to make an official offer for
Mkhitaryan but a bid is expected from Liverpool, with Palkin
confirming Mkhitaryan can leave for just over £25m.
`Borussia Dortmund offered 23 million for him,' Palkin said. `This
was the sole offer, but our position is 30 million. Mkhitaryan
doesn't have a release clause in his contract, but it does spell out
the penalties for unilateral termination of the contract, which is
equal to US$30 million (£19.8 million).'
Palkin explained that if Mkhitaryan forced his way out of the
Ukrainian club he would be liable to pay the £19.8m sum himself, but
if Shakhtar agree to the transfer - in what Palkin called a `civilized
manner' - the fee would be £25.5m.
Mkhitaryan is already in the bad books at Shakhtar, having failed to
report for pre-season training on time. Palkin confirmed that despite
the player appearing close to leaving Donetsk, he would be punished
for his behaviour as per the terms of his contract.
Liverpool have already made a number of moves in the transfer market,
signing the likes of Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas and Kolo Toure, while
letting Andy Carroll join West Ham on a permanent deal, with Jonjo
Shelvey in line to join Swansea City.
