CATHOLICOS HAD A STRICT TONE OF VOICE

Head of the Armenian Church in France, Archbishop Norvan Zakarian
said that his resignation submitted on July 1 is determined by issues
relating to the newly-appointed pastor of Nice, the current pastor
    of Strasbourg Vache Hairapetyan.

We have learned that Vache Hairapetyan has been serving in Strasbourg
for already two years but has never received his salary. So, in order
to support his family of three children, he has to take on a job of
    a parking guard.

In his interview with the French AIB Radio, Archbishop Norvan Zakarian
said that Garegin II talked to him in a strict way about Vache
Hairapetyan saying that the Archbishop should not have anything in
common with Echmiadzin unless he solves the problems of the pastor by
July 1. Archbishop Norvan Zakarian says that Catholicos' tone was very
strict so he understood he had nothing else to do in the diocese. If
he had spoken otherwise, the Archbishop would not have resigned.

On 19 October 2013 the annual meeting of the French diocese of the
Armenian Church will be held. A new primate may be elected during this
meeting. All friars of Echmiadzin above 35 years may participate in
    the election.

The rumors that the pastor of Marseilles Mesrop Parsamyan may become
head of the diocese are wrong. Father Mesrop is 32 years old, while
only friars above 35 are eligible for the election.

By the way, the regulations of the diocese have been drafted by
    Archbishop Norvan.
