YEREVAN, JULY 10, ARMENPRESS: During the recent years Azerbaijan
has purchased arms from the Russian Federation and Israel for 5
billion USD. They are a potential force against Armenia, but the
major part of the arms for the Navy and Air protection is intended
for Iran. As reported by Armenpress, this was published by the
Strategy Page portal. "Though the population of Azerbaijan exceeds
three times the population of the Republic of Armenia and it has more
money, the Armenians are better soldiers. However the Azerbaijanis
are not so naïve and have to face the fact that the Armenians are
better fighters and have Russia as an ally", - publishes the Strategy
Page. The electronic portal notes that Azerbaijan was made to increase
its military budget from 3,1 to 3,7 billion USD.
"Azerbaijan makes serious efforts to have strong military forces and
restore the economy. And the Armenians have centuries-old military
traditions", - writes Strategy Page, adding that if Armenia has
to think only about one rival, Azerbaijan has two enemies - Iran
and Armenia.
Earlier the source of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation
informed that Russia began supplying Azerbaijan with ground weapons.
According to the data, provided by the source, the total sum of
the deal might reach one billion USD. Azerbaijan is known for its
emphasized anti-Armenian activities. Armenia and Russia are strategic
partners.
