The new parking rules have caused drivers' discontent in Yerevan.
Parking is free within five minutes. Six-to-60-minute parking costs
AMD 100, one-day parking AMD 500.
"I strongly disapprove of it. A person lives in this building and has
to pay for parking his car in front of the building. Aren't they going
to collect payments for going on foot as well?" a driver told Tert.am.
The Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun newspaper reported that one of the
companies owned by Mihran Poghosyan, Chief Compulsory Enforcement
Officer, won a contest for parking areas in Yerevan. Later, the
Compulsory Enforcement Service of Armenia refuted the report.
"If our office is here, where can we park?" asks a driver named Martin.
"We are paying to the state budget for taxi driving. We cannot tell
our passengers to pay 100 drams more," taxi drivers say.
