ARMENIA MAY POST 5.1% ECONOMIC GROWTH IN 2013, 5.3%-2014 AND 5.5% - 2015-2016: IMF OUTLOOK
YEREVAN, July 11./ARKA/. International Monetary Fund anticipates a
5.1-percent economic growth for Armenia in 2013, 5.3-percent growth
-in 2014 and 5.5 percent -2015-2016, IMF Mission Chief to Armenia
Mark Horton told ARKA Thursday.
Given the increase in gas and electric power tariffs, the IMF will
review its forecasts for Armenia, according to Horton.
World Economic Outlook for April forecasted 4.5-percent and 4.1-percent
GDP growth in Armenia in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
Armenian regulator confirmed the new tariffs for natural gas and
electric power which got effective since 7 July. The tariff for
those consuming up to 10,000 cubic meters per month has risen to
156,000 drams ($376) from previous 132,000 drams ($318) per 1,000
cubic meters. Those consuming over 10,000 cubic meters will now
pay 277 dollars instead of previous 243 dollars. The new day-time
electricity tariff will be 38 drams per 1kWh (including VAT) instead
of the current 30 drams, and night-time tariff -28 drams (including
VAT) instead of the current 25 drams.
The state expenditures program for 2014-2016 expects a 6.9-percent GDP
growth in 2014, about 10-percent growth in 2015, and 11 percent -2016.
GDP growth in 2012 was 7.2%, in 2013 it is predicted at 6.2%. Armenian
President instructed the government to reach a 7-percent economic
growth in 2013.-0-
