TOURISTS INTERESTED IN TIGRANAKERT OF ARTSAKH

YEREVAN, JULY 15, ARMENPRESS: The city of Tigranakert, found in the
result of the excavations carried out recently in the Nagorno Karabakh
Republic, has become one of the most favorite places for the tourists
coming to Artsakh. As Armenpress was reported by the Manager of the
Gandzasar Tour tourist agency, within the recent period the foreign
tourists have wanted to see the excavation site of Tigranakert very
much. "We take them to Tigranakert with great pleasure, as the roads
are good and the excavations are quite interesting and attractive",
- said the Manager.
In the result of the survey implemented with five tourist agencies it
was found out that besides Tigranakert, the most preferable places
in Artsakh are Shushi, Stepanakert and Gandzasar. The tourists, who
have been coming to Armenia, more prefer Garni, Geghard, Sevan and
Etchmiadzin, as well as Dilijan, Tatev and Jermuk.
The Armenian tourist agencies are often applied to take tourists to
Tatev, but as the Monastery is quite far and it is not possible to
return on the same day, the tourists often refuse going there.
Nevertheless, at all the tourist agencies the most expensive package
is the Artsakh tour.
In 2012 Armenia was visited by about 840,000 tourists. The number of
hotels in the Republic of Armenia is 149, 47 of which are in Yerevan.
