ARMENIAN ATTORNEY GENERAL'S STATEMENT ON GENOCIDE REPARATIONS WAS COLD SHOWER FOR TURKISH AUTHORITIES - TURKOLOGIST
July 16, 2013 | 15:01
YEREVAN. - The Turkish authorities received a blow from where they
least expected.
Turkologist Andranik Ispiryan stated the abovementioned during a press
conference on Tuesday, reflecting on the recent and well-known remarks
that were made by Armenia's Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan.
According to the turkologist, Hovsepyan's statement, with respect to
starting a legal process on the elimination of the aftermath of the
Armenian Genocide, was long-awaited by many Armenians, but unexpected
by the Turkish authorities.
"The statement by the Prosecutor General of Armenia was a cold shower
for the Turkish authorities," Ispiryan noted, and he stressed that
the Turkish MFA's reactionary statement to Hovsepyan was a proof of
this fact.
The turkologist highlighted that the Turkish MFA statement was belated
and meaningless.
Ispiryan also informed that all Turkish media covered Hovsepyan's
remarks under the heading: "Armenia's prosecutor general demands
lands from Turkey."
The turkologist considered the setting up of a legal process,
in connection with reparations for the Armenian Genocide, to be
appropriate.
Andranik Ispiryan stressed that the legal process will increase in
the foreground, and the activities toward the genocide's international
recognition will continue in parallel with this process.
