ASSETS OF ARMENIAN BANKS OVER $6 BILLION

YEREVAN. - Combined assets of Armenian banks as of June 1, 2013,
are over $6.3 billion (AMD 2.6 trillion), statistical bulletin of
the Central Bank of Armenia informs.
At the same time, combined assets of Armenia's commercial banks come
to 65% of country's GDP. Thus, Armenia is third among the post-Soviet
states on the 'bank assets/GDP' index (after Ukraine with over 80%
index and Russia with 75% index). Among other South Caucasian states,
in Georgia this index equals to 60% of GDP, in Azerbaijan - 30%.
In developed European states bank assets significantly surpass the
GDP, for example, bank assets surpass GDP four times in Germany,
five times in Switzerland, and six times in UK.
