The idea to create 'Vahe Avetyan' charity fund belonged to military
doctor Vahe Avetyan, fund's founder, Susanna Melkumyan, told reporters
in Yerevan.
"Vahe Avetyan used to do charity during his service at a military
hospital, aiding orphanages and making donations. We decided to carry
out his ideas," she said.
'Vahe Avetyan' charity fund was established in August 2012, Ms
Melkumyan said.
The fund's mission is to assist formation of a new generation of
military doctors, implement programs aimed at development of military
medicine in Armenia, assist education and training programs for
military doctors at foreign educational institutions as well as to
provide financial assistance to socially vulnerable military doctors
and families of perished freedom fighters.
Fund's director, Garnik Avetyan, noted that despite the fact that
the fund was established only last August, it works actively, and
implemented some programs during the past four months.
The fund is financed by Russia-based Armenian businessmen, Mr Avetyan
added.
