HRAPARAK: CHINESE DEVELOP SYMPATHY FOR ARMENIA

The paper says the ruling Republican Party representatives' recent
visit to China is a sign of that country's increasing geopolitical
interests in Armenia.
A source has told the paper that China, which used to consider Armenia
a non-independent Russian-influenced state, has now started working
separately with the country, making cooperation proposals in almost
all the sectors. The country, which faces serious problems with its
Turkish minority - the Uyghurs - is also Armenia's ally in terms
of its negative attitude to Panturkist policies, says the paper,
adding that the Chinese interest in Armenia is likely to cause a
little discomfort to Russia in the near future.
