The injured driver of the 67th microbus line has already undergone
surgery at Erebuni Medical Center and his condition is satisfactory,
Spokesperson of the Medical Center Shushan Hunanyan told ArmInfo.
The patient will be discharged in a few days, she said. The driver
had lost much blood before he was taken to hospital.
To note, the injured driver is Alexan Ghazaryan (born in 1980). An
incident witness has told the Civil Society Institute NGO that the
driver was injured by a well-dressed man at the age of about 50.
According to the witness, the man paid 100 AMD and the driver perceived
that normally, however, the passenger started insulting the driver
and provoking a scuffle. The driver told the passenger to go away,
but the passenger approached him and injured the driver's left hand
with a knife.
Since July 20 numerous quarrels have occurred between the public
transport drivers and the activists of the Let's Pay 100 AMD movement.
In particular, the drivers have sworn at those who refuse to pay 150
AMD. The drivers have even resorted to tough measures, trying to hit
the passengers with their tools. The drivers, in turn, say that they
get nervous in the current situation and may provoke a road accident.
For instance, one of the drivers of the 22nd microbus line fainted
and was hospitalized on Thursday.
