PRIME MINISTER PROMISED SOLUTION OF HOUSING ISSUE OF DECEIVED RESIDENTS IN SEPTEMBER
In a meeting with the residents of 33rd district in Yerevan Prime
Minister Sargsyan pledged a fast solution of their housing issue.
Earlier the residents demanded apartments instead of their demolished
houses and have submitted to him a list of 160 families.
Different officials made different pledges to the residents of the
demolished residential area, and this time the prime minister pledged
improvement in late August or early September.
"We were promised that construction will continue, either in late
August or early September the banks will fund construction of the
building," one of the residents of the 33rd district Amalya Voskanyan
told Lragir.am.
Having demolished the old houses of the residents in this district,
they promised to build a new block of apartments for the residents.
However, City Center Development Company has only dug the foundation
over the past five years.
Since the meeting of the prime minister and residents the mentioned
company started paying the compensation of the rent of apartments in
time. Ms. Voskanyan said they used to delay the payments.
The similar issue of Buzand Street residents challenged the prime
minister. The former residents of demolished houses have submitted
a list of 38 families to the prime minister. Most families demand an
apartment at 72-80 Aram Street or in any other newly-built building
at the city center while others demand a compensation of the value
of their demolished houses.
One of the residents Lev Mnatsakanyan told Lragir.am that Tigran
Sargsyan agreed to meet with them again on August 2. The majority of
these residents demand apartments at 72-80 Aram Street where multiple
sale of apartments was reported. The government has promised that
the residents of Buzand Street whose houses have been demolished will
get apartments in this building.
