NO ARMENIANS AMONG DEAD AND INJURED IN LEBANON'S TRIPOLI - SOURCE

    June 04, 2013 | 14:50

BEIRUT. - Although around 1,000 Armenians live in and around Tripoli,
Lebanon, there are no Armenians among the dead and the injured as a
result of the recent clash in the city.

Editor-in-Chief Shahan Kandaharian of Lebanon's Aztag Armenian daily
told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the current situation in the city is not safe.

"Even though the number of Armenians in Tripoli is small, there is a[n
Armenian] church and a school there. The Armenians [there] have not
yet suffered any human casualties and material damages. Nonetheless,
the presence of snipers in the city complicates the situation and
causes panic among the population. The education facilities are
    already closed," Kandaharian informed.

He also noted that although it is relatively tranquil in Tripoli at
present, this does not guarantee that the clashes will not resume.

Shahan Kandaharian added, however, that the recent events in Tripoli
have not impacted the current situation in Beirut.
