KARABAKH ISSUE CANNOT BE SUBJECT FOR NEGOTIATIONS - MARXIST PARTY OF ARMENIA
June 06, 2013 | 13:36
YEREVAN. - Armenia should pull out from the Karabakh peace talks and
yield its place to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).
Marxist Party of Armenia leader Davit Hakobyan stated the above-said
during a press conference on Thursday.
In his words, NKR should be given the opportunity to shape its own
foreign policy.
"Once Karabakh becomes a subject of international law, it will decide
[on its own] in which direction to conduct [its] foreign policy. We
should take advantage of the great powers' clash of interests,"
Hakobyan said.
He also expressed a view that the Karabakh issue cannot be a subject
for negotiations.
"The party that triggered war and suffered defeat [i.e., Azerbaijan]
cannot be a negotiating party," the Marxist party leader noted.
Davit Hakobyan added that the OSCE Minsk Group has lost its role as
a diplomatic key to the settlement of the conflict.
