SOCIAL TENSION TO BE AVOIDED THROUGH INCREASING PENSIONS, ALLOWANCES AND SALARIES OF PUBLIC SERVANTS IN ARMENIA
YEREVAN, June 5./ARKA/. Armenian authorities can avoid social tension
and will compensate for the imminent inflation by increasing pensions,
allowances and salaries of public servants, believes Hakob Hakobyan,
head of parliamentary commission of social affairs.
Starting from 1 July the minimal salary in Armenia will rise to 45,000
drams. The government also anticipates to up the salaries of public
servants, pensions and allowances from January 2014.
"The State can't stop inflation due to increase in gas and electricity
cost, however, its function is to implement social programs, prevent
social escalation and poverty upturn," he told reporters on Wednesday.
