DEPUTY MINISTER: SOME 11,600 TONS OF FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES ALREADY EXPORTED FROM ARMENIA THIS YEAR
YEREVAN, July 5. /ARKA/. Some 11,600 tons of fresh fruits and
vegetables were exported from Armenia this year by early June,
Deputy Agriculture Minister Robert Makaryan said Wednesday at a
news conference.
"This is more than the indicator for the same period a year before -
1,700 tons," he said.
The deputy minister said that 1,327 tons of grapes, 626 tons of apples,
104 tons of cherry and 9,300 tons of vegetables, including 5,700 tons
of potatoes, were exported this year.
"I hope this year's fruit and vegetable export will be twice as large
as the previous year's 32,000 tons," he said.
Earlier, Makaryan said that Armenia exports its fruits and vegetables
mainly to Russia, Georgia and Ukraine. In 2012, 24,300 tons were
exported to Russia, 6,000 tons to Georgia and 660 tons to Ukraine. -0-
