How People Are Robbed
The Public Services Regulatory Commission approved the higher price
for gas and electricity. The gas price was discussed a lot whereas
electricity was viewed as a consequence of the gas price increase and
perhaps therefore escaped public focus.
Meanwhile, the rise of price of electricity is no less important.
A step was taken a few years ago which makes the population spend more
on electricity. Armenia has eliminated the daylight saving change in
the result of which households lose one hour in summer evenings which
is replaced by electricity. The same goes for public and private
offices.
So, the government of Armenia has made an arrangement in the result of
which people have to spend more electricity which would otherwise be
avoided with the help of daylight saving change.
Now the fee for electricity has gone up by 27%, saving is becoming a
more urgent issue. If the practice of daylight saving change is not
restored, thereby enabling households to save power, it is hard to
describe it otherwise than robbery.
In addition, people are robbed for the sake of some Russian companies
because part of energy generating companies and distribution networks
belong to Russian state-run companies.
By the way, Armenia stopped the practice of daylight saving changes
after a similar decision by Russia.
