Refusal to show contract with Russian Gazprom raises doubts about gas
    price rise - Andrias Ghukasyan

    12:57 - 08.06.13

Members of the `Let's prevent gas price hike' initiative are going to
apply to Administrative court to appeal the decision of the Public
Services Regulatory Commission which raised the gas tariff.

Ex presidential candidate Andrias Ghukasyan, member of the initiative,
speaking to reporters today, said three facts serve as a basis for
    applying to the court.

`The first is that the case of raising the price was groundless, not
transparent and without engagement of beneficiaries. Some 400 applied
to the commission expressing wish to participate in the discussion of
gas price and asking to conduct the process in an appropriate way,
which was not done,' he said, adding that the Commission is not
presenting the contract between Armenian Armrusgasprom and Russian
Gazprom. `They claim that the Russian side demands to keep it in
    secret,' Ghukasyan said.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission has decided to raise gas
price and made it 156 drams for cubic meter instead of previous 132
and electricity tariff 38 drams against former 30 for kilowatt/hour.

As a result the gas tariff has been raised by 18.2% for consumers and
electricity tariff by 26.7%. The new tariffs will enter into force
    from July 7.

Andrias Ghukasyan stressed that the secrecy of documents creates
doubts whether the gas prices have really been raised by Russia. He
voiced conviction that the real reason of it is Armrusgasprom wish to
get more profits and raise the employees' salaries.
