Armenian artists offer their support to Syrian Armenians. Lebanese
Armenian artist Movses Herkelian's collection of works by Armenian
painters opened today at Erebuni Plaza business center. The sale of
the pictures will be organized in Marseilles, the proceeds will be
allocated to the construction of the `New Aleppo' district in the city
of Ashtarak. Thirty-six works by 30 artists are on display.
Armenian Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan reminded about the
decision of the government to found `New Aleppo' district in Ahtarak.
The Armenian Ministry of Diaspora has been instructed to clarify the
housing needs of Syrian Armenians, who would like to get an apartment
in the above-mentioned district and discuss the issue of possible
financial assistance with benefactors.
About 600 families have already registered to purchase an apartment,
and are ready to pay 50% of the cost.
Hranush Hakobyan thanked businessman Hrant Vardanyan, who has already
transferred 43 million AMD to the fund opened to construct the new
district.
