ARMENIAN AUTHORITIES MUST CREATE FAVORABLE CONDITIONS FOR LOCAL AIR COMPANIES

YEREVAN. - Armenian authorities must create favorable conditions for
the local air companies, member of the Public Council said.
Levon Ghazaryan brought an example of Armenia-Russia segment where
only one of eight companies is an Armenian one. Meanwhile, the price
of airport services for the Russian companies is lower.
"Competition here is impossible," Ghazaryan said during the Tuesday
press conference.
Speaking about Armavia's bankruptcy and possible opening of three
new air companies, Ghazaryan said tender would be invited but did
not specify the details. He recalled that the companies must meet
international standards, including those on providing services.
Armenian companies working abroad can register here and participate
in the tender, he said, adding that the income will go to the state
budget.
As regards Krunk Company which reportedly stated readiness to invest
around $1 billion, Ghazaryan said such amounts seem to be unrealistic.
