COMMON AND UNCOMMON ARMENIAN NAMES

Karine Kuyumjyan, head of the Census and Demography Division of the
National Statistics Service, said that Anna, Anahit, Lilit, Mary,
Milena and Lusine were the most common female names in Armenia for
many years. The most common male names are David and Narek, other
frequent male names are Arman, Arthur, Gor, Karen and Samvel. As to
the most uncommon and strange names, Karine Kujumyan said that they
are mainly the names of representatives of ethnic minorities.
Ethnographer Nikol Margaryan recalled that he knows a family living
in Lori region had 11 daughters and a boy who they called Zorov (At
Last). The highest rate of birth since independence was reported in
2010 - 44,825 children.
