LORETTA DEFENDS HER BRUISES
Interview with Zaruhee Hovhannisyan, journalist
Two pillars of the government, Ruben Hairapetyan and Suren Khachatryan,
were removed from their posts under public pressure. What changes
are taking place along with the inaction of parties?
Values are changing, stereotyped thinking is changing. We can see
that the society reacted otherwise to the incident in Goris. Respect
for money and violence is replaced with an understanding of values
and mores, while such people will not adjust to change. The society
is freer than the ruling elite, and the process is continuous. The
parties are not active because they have a patriarchal pattern and
representatives of the same system.
Will the government rid of its stereotypes as well? Will they also
prosecute the governor?
They are not changing, they must leave and they will leave but they
will not prosecute their team members because it will mean that they
will not be able to rely on them. More vivid representatives of the
criminal world will simply be weakened and driven to the margin. We
see a big difference in the reaction of team members. One year ago
they all justified Ruben Hairapetyan unanimously, now they are not
speaking in one voice.
The government will undergo a process of redistribution. Wealth is not
limitless. Let us not overlook the opportunities and wishes of another
sector of government. We heard about the offshore scandal of the prime
minister. Despite the educational makeup the aspirations are the same.
Zaruhee, you often come back to the role of woman in the family. As
seen in the video, Suren Khachatryan's wife Loretta was one of the
key participants of the incident? Is she a fearless but non-free kind
of woman?
Loretta's actions are typical of the patriarchal family model
because kleptocracy is developed and preserved by women who bear this
mentality in them. They often undergo domestic violence and think
it is something normal. Loretta is defending her bruises which she
got regularly instead of love. Meanwhile, the scary men tend to hide
behind their wives at crucial times. They register their property in
the name of their wives, send them forward during clashes. Remember
Member of Parliament Samvel Alexanyan who said it is his wife's,
not his property.
The women who appeared in government and parliament due to commitment
to European standards are mainly women with masculine mentality who
service and protect the interests of men. Had Loretta been aware of
her rights, she would have sued him for violence.
Are we on the way to a democratic society, will change of the foreign
political bias and signing of the EU-Armenia Association Agreement
accelerate this process in Armenia?
Armenia must choose a direction - where it will face and where it will
walk. Does it want to live in the ditch of the civilization which
leads nowhere, encourages violence and corruption or achievements
of civilization? In Russia the requirement is straightforward - our
country must be part of the culture based on violence, law enforcement
agencies. There is a choice.
At the same time, Iran held an election the results of which satisfied
people. In Iran people took to the streets to celebrate, not to
protest. In 2008 the same people had to pay a high price for mass
arrests and hundreds of casualties for their electoral right. Now a
similar process is happening in Turkey. Remember March 1.
Now stereotypes are crushed.
