Modernization of border crossing points on Armenia-Georgia border enters crucial phase

YEREVAN. - Armenia's capital hosted a regular session of board members
of the program for modernization of Bavra, Bagratashen and Gogavan
border-crossing points.
The meeting was chaired by Gagik Khachatryan, head of the Armenian
State Revenue Committee. The head of EU delegation to Armenia Trian
Hristea, UN Resident Coordinator Bradley Busetto participated in
the meeting.
Opening the meeting, Gagik Khachatryan underscored importance of
the program in terms of economic development of Armenia, maintaining
security and deepening of regional cooperation in the field of integral
border control.
The modernization program of the mentioned checkpoints is entering
the final stage, head of the Committee said, adding that the start
and progress of the construction work is being determined.
Representatives of the international agencies noted that UNDP and EU
are ready to continue providing assistance to Armenia.
In his speech, Trian Hristea said that the program aimed at
modernization of Armenia-Georgia border has registered certain
progress.
