NEARLY 40% OF ARMENIAN IT INDUSTRY SOLD AT LOCAL MARKET : UITE
YEREVAN, June 21./ARKA/. Armenian local market consumes 40% of the
republic's IT industry, head of Union of IT Enterprises Karen Vardanyan
said at the opening of the sixth Digitec business forum on Friday.
The forum, " Smart solutions for smart countries," is held in Yerevan,
21-22 June.
"The situation related to applying information technologies in business
has changed over these six years. Six years ago it was difficult for
IT representatives to realize the problems and needs of the business,
and business, on its side, had hard time with perceiving what the
sphere offers, but today the situation has changed, we see the close
cooperation, and the figures prove that," he said.
Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan highlighted the importance
of constant cooperation between the sector and the government.
"It is important for us to get constant impetus from you, to know
what hinders business development and what efforts the government
should make to ensure IT advancement," PM noted.
Sargsyan has noted the government links hopes to the business forum,
and it will be attentive to its work and proposals.
This year, 62 organizations are to participate in the forum, 43 of
them are local and 19 -from foreign countries such as Singapore,
Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Italy and Bulgaria.
The aim of the forum is to foster introduction of information and
communication technologies in various sectors of the economy and to
present local and foreign information and communication technology
companies' products and services.
New traffic streams control and enterprises and customer management
systems as well as call centers, latest telephone solutions, systems
for paying utility bills, 3D systems and the electronic services
provided by state agencies will be presented here.
The forum is organized by the Union of Information Technology
Enterprises and sponsored by Alliance Free Economic Zone of Armenia.
The event will be held under the patronage of Armenian Prime Minister
Tigran Sargsyan and under the USAID Enterprise Development and Market
Competitiveness Project - EDMC.
