GERMANY BLOCKS TURKEY'S EU BID

Representatives of Germany blocked the new stage of talks on Turkey's
joining the EU.
The diplomats had to approve transition to the next stage of talks
during the Thursday session, but the move was blocked by Germany.
Official Berlin is concerned over protests in Turkey. According to
the local diplomats, while reviewing Turkey's EU bid, it is necessary
to take into account violent suppression of the protest by Turkish
authorities, Rosbalt reported.
Earlier the EU called on Turkey to conduct a large-scale investigation
into actions of policemen who used violence while dispersing the
crowd in Istanbul.
