UNIQUE REMAINS OF FLYING LIZARD DISCOVERED IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, JUNE 25, ARMENPRESS. The flying lizard discovered in
Armenia is a unique animal both in the region and the world. The
scientific worker of the Geological Institute of the National Academy
of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Master of Geological Sciences
Hayk Melik-Adamyan stated this at the press conference held on June
25. He underscored that this discovery proves that animals of this
kind lived in the territory of Armenia million centuries ago. As
reports "Armenpress" Melik-Adamyan noted: "The bones of the flying
lizard were found in the region of Vayk. The lizard's radius has been
studied for years and only after it was proved that this is a flying
lizard. Another sample of this species was found in the territory
of Uzbekistan. No animals of this species have been found in the
territory of other countries of the region."
Among other things the scientist highlighted that the flying lizard
lived about 90 million years ago. Its wing-span measured about 8
metres and its weight reached approximately 50 kg.
