Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan has chided medium-level officials at
ministries holding them responsible for the actions of protests that
citizens of Armenia often stage in front of the government building.

In his opening remarks at a Cabinet meeting on Thursday Sargsyan
said that these executive officials, either out of incompetence or
on purpose, often misled members of the public and refer them to the
government for solutions to their problems.

"Medium-level ministry officials themselves send people here as they
themselves fail to find solutions to their problems," Sargsyan said,
adding that from now on all complaints addressed to him will be
forwarded to ministers in charge of the spheres concerned.

Hardly any government session held weekly has passed without people
gathering outside to raise various issues and present complaints -
from mothers of soldiers killed in the ranks and bilked homeowners
to taxi drivers and company employees protesting new regulations or
    demanding their back wages.

During today's session of the government the prime minister also
commented on the recent offshore scandal in which his name, too, is
mentioned by media in connection with some alleged 'murky dealings'
via a Cyprus-registered company. Sargsyan called such talk a 'political
speculation' and blamed the media for 'making up tales'.
