NAGORNO-KARABAKH MP DEMANDS FOREIGN MINISTER'S RESIGNATION (VIDEO)

An independent member of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) National
Assembly has called for the foreign minister to step down over a
recent remark voiced in an interview with France 24.
In a Thursday speech in parliament, Vahan Badasyan said that the
opinions which FM Karen Mirzoyan expressed while speaking to the
French channel conflict with the Nagorno-Karabakh Constitution and
the approaches of its people.
"The foreign minister was in breach of the Nagorno-Karabakh
Constitution while expressing his and his ministry's positions. Hence I
demand that he step down. In case he refuses to hand in a resignation,
I would request the government to sack Karen Mirzoyan as a diplomat
and as a foreign minister," he said.
Mirzoyan, who was interviewed by the French TV Channel about a
fortnight ago (when he was on a visit to France), talked about the
Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. When asked
whether he thinks the country's return to Azerbaijan is possible,
the minister answered that "there are certain prospects and hopes". He
further called the liberated lands surrounding the country a "buffer
zone", which received various interpretations and comments in Armenia
and Artsakh.
