IRAQI AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO ARMENIAN PRESIDENT

Today, newly appointed ambassador of Iraq to Armenia Ghazi Tahir
Khalid presented his credentials to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
The President congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and
expressed hope that the reopening of the embassy of Iraq in Armenia and
the diplomatic mission of ambassador Khalid will allow to considerably
promote the traditionally good-neighborly Armenian-Iraqi relations.
Noting that thousands of Armenians who today live in Iraq may become
a natural bridge for establishing closer bilateral relations between
Armenia and Iraq, Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of developing
concurrently with the political dialogue also economic relations,
strengthening of cultural ties and active interaction in the framework
of international organizations.
The parties exchanged views on the instability present in recent
years in the Middle East and on the current regional developments.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Ghazi Tahir Khalid assured
the President that he will do his best to further strengthen and deepen
Armenian-Iraqi friendly relations, presidential press service reported.
