YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 28, ARMENPRESS: U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry
on February 28 announced about USD 60 million aid allocated for Syrian
opposition in order to provide them with food and medicine.
As reports Armenpress, referring to Arab sources, during the joint
press conference with Syrian opposition leader Ahmed Mouaz al-Khatib,
John Kerry has declared that Syrian refugees in Turkey will also be
provided with assistance.
"For more than a year, the United States and our partners have called
on Assad to heed the voice of the Syrian people and to halt his war
machine," Kerry said. "Instead, what we have seen is his brutality
increase," Secretary of State added.
In accordance with UN data, Syrian clashes lasting about 23 months
have caused the death of about
70 000 people, including about four dozen Syrian Armenians.
