Movie on alleged Armenian genocide due for release in 2015

A new movie on the alleged `Armenian genocide' will open in theaters
on April 24, 2015, marking the centennial of the 1915 deportation of
Armenians by the Ottomans, according to the movie's website.
The movie, titled `The Genex,' is written, produced and directed by
Armenian director Artak `Sevada' Grigorian. According to the movie's
synopsis on the website, it centers on a 25-year-old woman who finds
out about Armenian history, in particular the Armenian deportation.
Sevada is reportedly meeting with Hollywood stars Natalie Portman,
Armand Assante, Al Pacino and Leonardo DiCaprio for his new movie.
President of the Foundation for the Struggle Against Baseless
Allegations of Genocide (ASÄ°MED) SavaÅ? EÄ?ilmez said the movie is part
of a campaign to persuade the world that the 1915 Armenian deportation
was in fact genocide. EÄ?ilmez also said that his foundation has sent
emails and DVDs to the aforementioned Hollywood stars, asking them not
to accept any role in the movie.
Armenia claims the 1915 deportation of Armenians by the Ottomans was a
genocide in which 1.5 million Armenians were killed, saying the
incident was an act of ethnic cleansing and wants it to be
internationally recognized as genocide.
Meanwhile, Turkey, which sees the allegations of genocide as a threat
to its national honor, says the killings were not intentionally
perpetrated to eradicate a particular ethnicity but were the result of
the wartime conditions during World War I.
