YEREVAN.- Head of Marxist party David Hakobyan is confident Armenian
authorities are stretching out the hand of reconciliation to the
opposition.
In response, the opposition calls the president "an imposter",
Hakobyan said commenting on post-election situation in Armenia.
"If we want to characterize the situation we can note that the
Republican junta asked people for a stick to manipulate them during
the coming five years. However, they did not expect resistence,"
he told reporters on Tuesday.
Hakobyan said it is impossible to carry out peaceful transfer of power
since Central Electoral Commission is not a guarantor of democracy,
but "democracy violator."
He called on the authorities to introduce a fundamentally new
Electoral Code.
