Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has extended his condolences to Vice
President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro over the death of Hugo Chavez,
the long-time leader of this South American country.

Chavez died on March 5, at the age of 58, after a two-year battle
with cancer. He had led Venezuela for 14 years.

In his message, Sargsyan expressed his grief over Chavez's untimely
death, describing him as an "exceptional personality" and "influential
politician" who always remained committed to his vision of "ensuring
the welfare of each and every Venezuelan."

Sargsyan also said Chavez was a leader who "has had an unquestionable
role in the development and progress of modern-day Venezuela."

"The irretrievable loss of Hugo Chavez is, indeed, a big grief for
both his relatives and the friendly Venezuelan nation," wrote the
Armenian president, according to his press office.
